The Harvard Financial Aid Initiative is announced

In 2004, Harvard University announced a vast expansion of financial aid to families who earned less than $80,000 a year. And if a family earned less than $65,000 annually, their children were able to attend Harvard at no cost whatsoever.

In 2017, Harvard continued its commitment to financial aid. Now, there is no expected parent contribution for students from families with incomes under $65,000, and the expected contributions for those with incomes up to $80,000 have been reduced.
