Lucerito Ortiz

Harvard wasn’t just for me; it was for my whole family.

Lucerito Ortiz ’10, EdM ’14 applied to Harvard on a dare. “We could frame your rejection letter,” a friend said.

When she was accepted and excitedly ran around her North Hills, California, house, her parents—a housekeeper and a landscaper—were devastated to tell her they wouldn’t be able to afford the College. But thanks to Harvard’s financial aid package, her parents didn’t have to worry.
