Tim & Michele Barakett endow new startup grant program
Coming from Montreal as a first-generation college student and financial aid recipient, Tim Barakett ’87, MBA ’93 was welcomed to Harvard by a diverse community of classmates and hockey teammates. He always remembered his initial experiences as a freshman and wanted to pass along those same experiences to future classes.
In 2016, Tim and his wife, Michele, endowed a new startup grant program, which awards $2,000 to every incoming freshman starting with the Class of 2020, whose family income is $65,000 or less. It’s one of their many generous gifts to Harvard that helps advance the College’s robust financial aid program.
